The Spirit of Qurbani: A Divine Tradition of Generosity
Millions of Muslims across the globe take part in the deep spiritual act of Qurbani each year during the blessed days of Eid al-Adha – a practice based on the sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail (AS). What you need to know about Qurbani (Udhiyah) is not only a sacrifice offered to Allah (swt) but also a way of giving back to the poor and an opportunity to come together as a community to help those in need most.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever offers a sacrifice after the prayer has completed their rituals (of Eid) and has followed the way of the Muslims.” – [Al-Bukhari]
This Hadith is a reminder that Qurbani is more than just a ritual – it is an act of submission, of empathy and of care for our community. Your Qurbani gives the most vulnerable people the relief they need – turning their Eid around into a time of happiness and dignity.
In places such as Punjab where thousands of the families have keep their hand to mouth and the most favorite delicious meat of Eid becomes a source of nourishment for them. Here at As-Siraj Trust, we are proud to be at the forefront saving lives with our Qurbani project, providing hope, dignity and nourishment to communities throughout Pakistan. In this article we explore As-Siraj Qurbani in Punjab 2025 and also take a look on qurbani in 2024.
Qurbani and the significance of tackling hunger and malnutrition
A Lifeline for the Marginalized
Globally, 1 in 9 people go to bed hungry, and in impoverished regions of Punjab, the situation is even more dire. For families surviving on limited means, meat is a luxury—often consumed only once a year, if at all. Qurbani offers more than a meal; it delivers critical nutrients that combat malnutrition, anemia, and undernutrition-related childhood mortality.
The Qurbani meat recipients are:
- Widows and orphans
- The elderly and disabled
- Displaced families and other victims of disaster
- Nobodies who are down and out
Every distribution is an act of love and solidarity so that nobody is left behind on a day of celebration.
Our Ethical Process: Endeavored by Faith and Quality
Animal Selection with Morality
The Qurbani animals we slaughter are strictly chosen in accordance with Islamic teachings. We ensure they are:
- Of the an’aam (goats, sheep, cows, buffalo)
- Sound, having no unsoundness or defect.
- The right age and quality be eligible for Qurbani
Halal: It should be lawful and legitimate and all the rules of the Shariah should be followed Hygiene: It should be clean and the animal should be in good health Humane: It should be as painless and as quickly as possible
From sacrification process till distribution, all the process is strictly followed by Shariah and maintains the highest hygiene standards. We are an open book, and whenever possible cater to personalized Qurbani -carried out in the name of each donor, without compromising on the spirit or letter of Islamic rules.
We prefer locally purchased meat to uplift the local economy and serve the meat fresh to the beneficiaries. In difficult conditions, such as conflict zones, meat is distributed in a frozen state to guarantee quality and sanitary conditions.
