Qurbani is a reminder of the sacrifice that Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was willing to make for Allah. He was willing to sacrifice his son, Ishmael (peace be upon him), in obedience to Allah’s command. Allah, however, spared Ishmael and provided a ram as a sacrifice in his place.

At As-Siraj we provide humanitarian relief to those in need. We are seeking donations to support our Qurbani program for Eid Al-Adha 2023. This program aims to distribute the meat from these sacrifices to the poor and vulnerable individuals in Sindh, Pakistan. Qurbani is the act of sacrificing an animal on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha. It is a compulsory act for all Muslims who are able to afford it. The meat from the sacrifice is then distributed to the poor and needy.

Qurbani in Islam

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The one who offers a sacrifice should eat some of it, feed some of it (to others) and give some of it as charity." (Sahih Bukhari).

Qurbani is a reminder of the sacrifice that Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was willing to make for the sake of Allah. When Ibrahim was commanded by Allah to sacrifice his son, Ismail, he was willing to obey. However, Allah intervened and provided a ram as a sacrifice instead. Qurbani is a way for Muslims to commemorate this act of obedience and sacrifice.
